PRODUCT INFORMATION
Product Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1771-DL is a Gray code converter module for PLC-5 systems. It accepts position inputs from an 8-bit absolute Gray code encoder. The module converts incoming Gray code values into an 8-bit binary representation. This binary data transfers across the I/O chassis backplane to the programmable controller. An external 12 to 24V DC power supply powers the connected encoder.
This single-slot module includes an onboard 120V AC zero-speed triac switch. The triac switch conducts while the encoder shaft remains in motion. It turns off after rotation stops following an adjustable time delay. Users adjust the delay between 0.3 and 6 seconds using a front-panel trim potentiometer. The switch acts as a safety interlock by opening the drive circuit upon stopping.
