PRODUCT INFORMATION
Product Overview
The Allen-Bradley 1797-IE8 is an intrinsically safe I/O Module within the FLEX I/O series. This Flex Ex unit provides eight non-isolated analog input channels for classified hazardous environments. Each channel independently accepts 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA current signals. Internal analog-to-digital conversion provides 16-bit resolution with configurable data formats. Measurement accuracy reaches 0.1 percent of output signal range at 20 degrees Celsius.
The module features internal diagnostics to detect lead breakage, overrange, underrange, and remote transmitter alarms. It mounts onto an intrinsically safe 1797-TB3 or 1797-TB3S terminal base unit. Standard non-Ex FLEX I/O terminal bases cannot be used with this module. The terminal base keyswitch must be set to position 3 for proper installation. Recommended field wiring uses 4 mm2 stranded copper conductors with 1.2 mm maximum insulation.
